This is a portrait of Warren Battiste. ..a 90 yr old jazz guitarist who has played and performed with some of the greats, like Etta James, Fats Domino, George Benson, The Platters, and many more. He has played in many clubs on Bourbon St, New Orleans and NYC. In 2000 he received the Lifetime Achievement Award in jazz from the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Warren Battiste was one of the many victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, having been rescued from an interesting overpass where he had escaped with several others and survive for 2 days after being forced to leave his residence because of the flood waters. With all that behind him now, he has reached into the experience to come out with a new record release called quiet storm in New Orleans.
I happened to meet him one night when visiting my in-laws at Solana assisted living in Roseland New Jersey. He was playing guitar for a good friend of mine, Lynette Sheard. I took a photo with my phone and this is the result. I don't know if Warren is still alive and if he is he would be 100 now!
